• A stainless steel trowel with rounded edges is for applying the plaster without leaving marks. A hawk to hold the plaster and facilitate easy application
• Sandpaper or a sanding block for smoothing the surface between coats
• A burnishing tool or polished trowel to achieve the desired sheen and finish 

You may also choose to use a primer that is compatible with Venetian plaster to prepare the wall surface. Finally, protective gear such as gloves and a mask will protect you from dust and debris during the application process.
